Broward County

Painting and Restoration Contractor in Hollywood, FL

Hollywood's houses are mostly mid-century concrete block and its beach is lined with condo buildings. Both get repainted the same way: washed, repaired and coated for salt air.

Hollywood was founded in the 1920s and grew quickly after the Second World War, and its housing shows both. The Hollywood Lakes historic district, between downtown and the Intracoastal, holds some of the city's oldest houses, while the neighborhoods to the west, out toward Emerald Hills and Hollywood Hills, are mostly single-story concrete block and stucco — the CBS house that defines this part of Broward. Those are durable walls, but after decades of repainting they carry layers of old coatings, hairline cracks at window corners and, often, a previous repaint that never properly bonded.

On the barrier island, Hollywood Beach is a different job. The Broadwalk is lined with low-rise buildings, older motels converted to condos and taller condominium buildings along A1A, all of them in direct salt spray. Associations there deal with the same problems as the rest of the coast — balcony and slab-edge spalling, failing sealant, corroded railings — and, on buildings of three or more stories, the milestone-inspection schedule that usually brings those problems to the board's table.

We are licensed as a Florida general contractor, which matters on both kinds of property. On a house it means the stucco and concrete repair a wash uncovers is inside our scope rather than a reason to stop; on an association building it means the concrete restoration, the waterproofing and the repaint are one contract, with one company responsible for the result.

FAQ

Questions about painting in Hollywood

What Hollywood homeowners, boards and property managers ask us before an estimate.

Why does the paint on an older Hollywood house peel?

Usually because of what is underneath it. Decades of coatings, chalky old paint that was never washed off and moisture coming through cracks in the stucco all stop a new coat bonding. The fix is preparation: a thorough wash, scraping back to a sound surface, crack repair and the right primer before any finish coat.

Do you work on Hollywood Beach condo buildings?

Yes — concrete spalling repair, sealant replacement, waterproofing and the phased repaint that follows, with residents notified in writing before each phase. On a building in direct salt spray the repair scope is often larger than the paint scope, and it is priced that way.

Can you paint a house in the Hollywood Lakes historic district?

Yes. Older houses need more careful preparation around original details, and a property in a historic district may need the city's approval for some exterior changes. We check what applies to the specific property before the schedule is set.

How long does an exterior repaint take on a Hollywood house?

Most single-family exteriors run one to two weeks, driven mainly by how much stucco repair turns up after the wash and by the weather. Your estimate includes a schedule with the specific working days.
